My new Standard Horizon 1100E VHF comes with two ferrite clamps, but nothing in the manual about their placing. Can someone please advise whether they are both intended for the aerial coaxial or one each for aerial and power lead. Why they are not even mentioned in the packing list I don't know.Just one deployed on the signal cable seems the most likely but you never know.Hoping somebody does.
Thanks in advance.

They are designed to stop any noise induced into the power leads from affecting your radio. So yes, as Caladh says, put them in the power leads as close to the set as you can. Generally (depending on the design) you take a full turn of the power lead around each ferrite clamp so that the lead passes through the clamp twice.

My GX2100 had an extra slip of paper, like Caladh's, saying to put one around the power and DSC cables and the other around the hailer and external speaker cables.

I assume the need for these was found after manufacturing, or is possibly a Europe-only requirement?

How very helpful. I've been suffering with increased background noise (so I have to turn up the squelch) on my VHF when turning on certain items on the boat (FM radio, A/P at times, some lights). There are no ferrite cores on any of the VHF cables, so I've just bought a pack of them and will see if these help out.
