Ferreti design team

Ferretti is with a double t ;).

Anyways Fulvio de Simoni just takes care of the Pershing brand (since they started in 1985) for the group, with Zuccon doing the Ferretti's (since 1990) and Mauro Micheli and Beretta (Officina Italiana) doing the Riva (since early 90s as well).

The 140 looks to be expanding the brand into new areas, we see the fins which go from the ship-side (as on the new 70), but the bow is very much a homage to Righini and the Azimut 55S (a tribute to some old Alfa).
It is interesting that unlike the 115, 108 or the the big Pershings since the introduction of the 88 the 140 wants to be something else, not so much a direct competitor to an Overmarine Mangusta or an AB Yachts.
May be more looking into Heesen or the new Wider yachts as competitors.

Nice promo animation, but I would suggest it's a good deal easier to include fancy design features, sliding windows/ceilings/furniture/whatever and other points of fascination into a 140ft model than a ~50ft bread-and-butter model. Galeon is trying something similar on their new 50ft Flybridge and probably doing a better job than Ferretti being innovative given the smaller boat size. Although the fascination factor is probably intact for many I am not sure there is an increase in overall utility; all design choices involve deselection of other opportunities. Do boat owners really have use for bar stools overhanging the hull or a rotating settee instead of a more mundane but practical aft cockpit?
