Fenders : how to get them white again ?

As the plastic ages it seems to start excreting a sticky goo. Whilst it can be removed with a solvent it soon comes back. And stickiness attracts grit which scratches your topsides. It's worse at the top presumably due to sunlight - so end for ending is worth doing.

I'm afraid I just accept that I'll need 6 new fenders every five years. Not too expensive. But I do find it hard to throw the old ones away. They're piled up in the garage!

Local marine 'detailers' here in the USA put the fenders in a bin bag with some diluted chlorox (bleach), shake it up to get some foaming, seal off the bag and leave in the hot sun for a few hours, not sure if damp rain works a well though.
