Fender Storage Product for sailing & motor/power yachts project

Hello YBW Forums,

I am a BSc Products Design student studying at Bournemouth University and I am currently undergoing my final year project. The aim of my project is to design and prototype a new fender storage product for sailing yachts and motor/power yachts.

I am currently in the research stage of my project and I'm trying to get as many different opinions from individuals who are involved in the marine sector. Your input will be highly appreciated and valued as it will aid me in designing a more efficient and successful product solution.

As well as providing me with an insight into the marine market it will also provide you with the opportunity to let me know what you would like to see in a product solution.

You have completely missed the point. The lad is designing something as a Uni project, so please help him gather opinions. It is nothing to do with whether you actually want to buy one.

Filled out the survey but like others I don't require any storage facility at present for my fenders.

Around here fenders are stored in purpose built cages of stainless steel built into the inside of the bow rail where it extends aft from the bow along the front deck. This is OK for when voyaging but I think mostpeople take them inside to reduce UV damage when the boat is moored. good luck olewill

Done. I would suggest not being too critical or specific as perhaps the process of this sort of academic study is proving his methodology and not necessarily manufacturing a product that you will have to buy.

Survey completed, forgot the point about uv protection so well done whoever mentioned it. Lets help the guy though, my son is currently reading naval architecture and will have a similar project to complete, I would like to think the forum could help him at some stage too.
