Hi,
I have visited 5 chandleries in Plymouth this morning trying to buy fender socks to fit 200mm x 800mm fenders, guess what?
No one stocks them and while all offered to get them for, Methinks I can do that myself by asking you knowledgeable folks on here where you got yours from. Prefer ready made rather then the kits. Thank You.

Jimmy_the_builder has some 800mm long for sale
brand new in for sale forum 6 @ £50 but wrong size for me.

Have princess on though so you may need to change your boat.

Fender socks are a must for marina IMHO

DO NOT buy them from the Fendasox UK website. web page

Despite the .uk url, and prices inc VAT, they are sent from the US, which takes 3 weeks or more, and you have to pay the carriers admin charges on top for dealing with customs.

These any good? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would agree totally with whisper, I had a long chat with Awlgrip years ago and they produced a big technical file on the subject, just like covering fenders with material made from Scotchbrite pads.

I would never go there.

Sorry! guys don't agree. Try leaving a dark coloured hull with fenders not covered with socks and within a week you will have scuff marks. my last 3 boats have had blue hulls and the only time that I have had any fender marks is when somebody (with the best intentions) fitted an extra fender without a sock for me because it was particularly windy.

Yip, I have used them for 18 months now and agree they protect the blue band on the hull, I have got a scuff mark where my boat blew against a non socked fender through the winter there. Just got it polished out at the weekend.

Have to agree, a couple of years on our blue hull without them saw a large rise in the sales of 3M fender scuff remover and since we fitted them we have seen a world of difference. No irritating squeaks at night either, well not from the fenders anyway. I think the trick is to be religious about keeping them clean and free from grit otherwise the will obviously do damage.
