HI
Being a novice, perhaps one of you would help me out. My fenders need pumping up is there a special tool to insert into the valve. I have tried a foot pump with a plastic point but this either isn't long enough or won't work.

There's a metal needle type adaptor you need which fits into the end of a bicycle pump. The red tapered plastic adaptors are for toys & footballs. Certainly DON'T use a garage airline since an exploding overinflated fender - it will go without warning - will knock you off your feet or worse. They only need around 2-3 PSI!

Afterwards...

After you've inflated them, it's a good idea to hang them so the valve is downwards. In the event of being squashed in severe conditions, if the valve were to blow out, it will go harmlessly down into the water rather than hitting someone in the face.

Yes,Steve has the correct solution. I have one of these long needle type inflaters and I thought it was the same as those used for blowing up footballs or rugby balls.
