There are shipping containers full of PPE stored near Melton level crossing also.

A large number of shipping containers (getting on gor 300) have recently appeared, stacked four high, next to Orwell Yacht Club in the West Bank Terminal at Ipswich Docks. I assumed that they were empty but maybe not.....

I can't see where "Felixstowe Port's spokesman" says the governmnt has nowhere to put them. It seems it was the Guardian saying that. See posts 7 & 8 above, which seems to have found somewhere.

I think they also have a problem with empty containers. There isn't enough stuff going back the other way at the moment. A common problem and why it's a lot cheaper to ship stuff East than to bring it this way.

On the local BBC News tonight, they quoted "11,000 containers of PPE". Assuming this is in TEU's, that's a single container ship of the size of Emma Maersk....

Does it matter? Why is there suddenly this problem with storing containers empty or not? The pile at Melton is huge and policed by pretty aggressive security. Anticipating “ provide proof, where is the link ?” I wandered over after buying my world beating sausage roll from the farm shop and asked the guy in the high viz at the gate what all the containers were for. Was basically told to Foxtrot Osker.

Did I not read we now make 70% of our PPE in the UK now ?
