....not having auto trim tabs. manual tt, bow thruster, stern thruster or dual controls let alone a second engine on my 25ft craft I am starting to think I'm missing something BIG TIME.

Do you think I have a case to sue the manufaturer for failing to equipe the boat properly for the 21st century?

please don't get the wrong idea - I do have 3 active chart plotters, 2 sonars, radar and DSC VHF at the helm so plenty to go wrong!

but no autopilot of course..............

well, I do think you should be considering one of those sat phones recently reviewed. I thought the £15k model looked reasonable value for use around Poole Harbour. And perhaps another for communicating with any crew member up on the foredeck.

it's neither electric nor do I have a holding tank - cause of major arguments with female crew at times............

your observation is helping me categorise the equipement - I seem to have a lot of basic functionality but very little in the 'labour saving, convinence category'.

That describes me.
I hanker after a log and depth sounder, so I won't buy them.
I have a space for a PortaPotti, but don't have one.
I had a cooker on board when I bought the boat, so I chucked it.
I don't want the faff of electrics, so I don't sail in the murk or at dusk.
I've just sold an all-signing all-dancing mobile phone with compass, sound meter, camera etc, etc and replaced it with a phone that just receives calls (in black and white).

I haven't a roller headsail, however, I know when to throw in the towel, so I'm getting one.
