Just had to order a total of 28 scaffolding planks at huge expense to shore up my river frontage. Not for my own benefit but to make life easier for visiting Yacht Clubs. (I'd already put in about 40 last year.)
I'm seriously thinking of just allowing the bank to deteriorate in the future. Maybe I'm in a mood but I'm beginning to think I'm a Mug.
Rant over.

Those planks are one of the ways you keep in contact with your many friends and associates Byron. Lose the planks and you'll lose a way of life. You are a very generous landowner who brings happiness to many on the river. A mug you aren't!

+1
Its certainly appreciated, you are all that is keeping some clubs alive as they have no where else to go! :)

how do scaffolding planks (normally pine) measure up in terms of durability and taking a bashing ?

Ideally elm would be the timber of choice, but there isn't much around. I can do you some very nice thick green oak if you want some (treatment with arsenic for a really long rot-free life is no longer an option, sadly. )

Maybe you need to organise a working party that just happens to coincide with the next big event.
