If the weather is favourable for the coming weekend a channel crossing from Brighton is being considered, any advice on what is a good destination, looks like it may be SW (at the moment anyway) on the friday which is the preferred day to sail. Considering going further east should the wind remain SW.

Both are great; I prefer Fecamp. It's also slightly nearer from Brighton. The entrance is dredged to 1.5 m, can be less; but it's neaps next weekend so you should have enough water whatever time you arrive, although the book says its better around HW+1 (about 1730 BST next Friday).

Whatever you choose- have a great time John!

Just remember to put your phone down before you jibe this time /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
BTW
Who's going with you to show you the way?

A colleague told me that Fecamp is about to undergo major works in the outer harbour and visiting craft will be excluded. I don't have details of when this work is due to start of for how long. Our club is due to visit in early June and I understand that an alternative is being considered.

Can anyone shed any light, or have I been given incorrect info.

You are!!! Forgot to call, doing 15 hour days. Now the french are blockading. Just because I was planning to visit!! At least i pay my harbour fee,s Dancingwithmoons. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Just remember Dieppe is available at all stages and in all weathers, whatever I may think about its high prices (highest on the French channel coast)

Fecamp has a narrower and shallower entrance and you can encounter shipping at any time. In a real blow the pontoons move about quite a lot.

What about reverse when you get there I understand that can present problems
Any way les pechers will barricade you in and force you to stay in french bars and drink for a week that would be horrible
