Dear fellow sailors,
For a University assignment I'm looking into Sailing destinations around the world and their popularity. What would be great is if you could all help and just post a quick response below stating where you like to sail most of all, particuarly on holiday!

Norwegian fjords around Stavanger

Desolation Sound and Gulf Islands BC

Confining comments to Europe - at least 50% of the cruising regions of Europe are my favourites, each for different reasons:

The Baltic - summer days that last all night, Archipelagoes with hundreds of free anchorages
W Scotland - Sheltered waters, dramatic scenery, isolated anchorages
SW Ireland - the craic, the friendly welcome
CI and N France - the pilotage challenge, coping with the biggest tides in the world
N Spain - warmth, few yachts, hardly a sign of tourism, tapas; just plain unspoilt
S Spain - Alicante, the sunniest winters in Europe, wonderful fish restaurants
Med France - Cote d'Azur, the ultimate in civilisation; cafe culture, food and wine
Italy - Pisa, Florence, Siena; superb cities, matched by superb cuisine
Corsica and Sardinia - Glittering white beaches
Sicily - being whitewashed downwind of Etna by its CuNimb
Greece - the charm of becoming part of a village's quayside life, free of charge
Turkey - the ancient sites, the markets of Istanbul

One could, of course, provide a similar list of dislikes . . .

Marquesas it's a bit of a pain to get to but worth the trip and Tahiti just around the corner with all the back up you could want.

Scotland is good, but I haven't sailed enough of it without it blowing a F7!!

P.S. I'll kick start and say that although I love the West Coast of Scotland I've always been interested in sailing around Thailand/Philippines.

best sailing destination for me had been Black Sea, South Shore Of Ukraine.
