Faulty B&G displays with same fault

Hi, just wondered if anyone has had similar faults to mine, I currently have half a dozen B&G Hydra displays that all seem to have the same fault, these have been all purchased from different locations as parts of systems i have bought to make a complete working system.
they are all 8 button FFD displays and one pilot display that im keen to get working now
They are all the same problem, connect 12v to any of them and the backlight just briefly flashes once and that is it.

I am guessing its a common fault because of my growing collection but cannot find any info on the fault and tinley want a huge amount just to look at them before diagnosing the fault

Any information or anyone else have this problem or had this on a system that was rectified I am looking for a solution to fix this

What happens when you press the backlight button once or twice? Can you cycle through any of the illumination levels? Have the displays been set to local lighting mode?

Not had that problem with my B&G. Only suggestion I can make is to contact Tinley and see if they can help.

Difficult to believe that all the displays are faulty, more likely that there is a fault with the 'common' wiring feeding the displays ... checking for poor connections and bad earths would be where I would start.

I don't think they are wired together, because the OP said "connect 12v to any of them ...", which is why I asked about trying the different lighting levels, or even whether displays have had the lighting switched off in the local settings. The probable answer is that they are fine.

Is he connecting the 12v to the right pins? It's suspicious for all units to have similar problems - smells like user error...

With the FFD disconnected from everything else, a 0.5 amp supply between the Red (+ve) and Black (-ve) wires should power the display. The green and white wires are the data bus so can be left isolated for the test.
Only the legends (labels top and bottom, will show, but it will indicate if the FFD is working or not. There are no fuses or repairable parts inside the housing.

I have tried tinley they want £60 each just to look at them, if i knew they worked i would get them checked but it could be a huge waste of money as i have 5 of these now
Think they are all dead but as they are from different sources these seem to all have identical problems

Depending on software, this is how the displays behave if you don't have the Green and White Network wires connected! However, it is also the symptom of displays that have been over-volts or lightning strike.

We (www.tinleyelectronics.com) do have a 1 hour charge, but this is not charged if you decide to scrap the units.
