Brit killed and six injured after luxury yacht crash in Sardinia

News still emerging details patchy .Some news feeds , there are plenty , say 8.40 pm last night he had to take last min collision avoidance turn and hit rocks .
Condolences to the owners family .

More details will emerge .If it was a magnum there are only 2 - 70 s .And yes one is based in Porto Cervo. The other was in La Napoule .

Cruise is 50 knots wot nearer 60 btw .

That isn’t a magnum .Early days with the news etc .

They are open boats like Itama .The difference they went down the Arnesons route and slightly rearward engine position and a slightly higher deadrise .This is an 80 .

As of lunch time Monday after the 8.40 Pm crash yesterday there is talk of “ magnum type “ and the name Amore.

PYB will be along soon to ID ^ this boat .

There’s a pretty close nit muscle boat community in Italy ??.Mostly on FB .
A lot of magnum guys frequent the Itama page and vice versa cos they have one of each or had one or the other .

William of PYB fame on here runs the Itama section (very successfully) around a 1000 members.

Anyhow just “ spoke “ to him ….yes he knows and is travelling at mo right this min and gave me permission to say it’s a

Profilmarine Cherokee 70.
Also was taking collision avoidance.

Hey guys posts # 3,5,6 have cleared up the identification. Particularly my post #6 which I thought was self explanatory.
I am telling you what it is and who my source was .

@ SC 35 looks like a head on , those rocks are tall .
Risking a tiny speculation it will be a lady Diana type of internal injuries from rapid deceleration….internal major vessels ruptured or rib cage fracture = bilateral ( both sides) collapsed lungs .= cardiac arrest .
Looking at that bow pic all assuming it’s the correct pic .No reason to doubt .

copyright Daily Mail bull shitter Nick ‘I created Foxy Knoxy’ Pisa. These are the actual photos from his DM article (I won’t share the link). Make of that what you will.

although, I can’t confirm the pics in post 2 are accurate either.

I’m not denying any of that. And I can’t confirm that the photos are accurate either.

But the photos are “out there” and they do match up with the boat in the photos taken at night.

Agreed, you only have to search Porto Cervo on twitter to see that is the boat. The same pics, and a video are everywhere. Sad indeed.

Post 2 seems the inaccurate one.

It’s nearly 24 hrs since this dreadful accident.

From jungle drums I have previously outlined .

Boat type Profilmarine 60 Cherokee.

- Captain tried to avoid a collision by passing a narrow channel, some locals can pass at 40 knots.

- He hit the reef with the bow.

- According to unconfirmed reports owner was in cabin forward.

- The Cherokee was in the wrong in the so called collision to port side.

- First help came from Silvio Berlusconi in his Magnum 70 called red dragon .

- Collision again rumours was at forty knots. Stress rumours but look at the pics .

Sure more will come out in time .

Plenty of media coverage of who the unfortunate guy was and they seemed to have unfortunately delved into his background .

That fwd cabin is a crew cabin . If he was in there he could have easily fallen into the water unconscious??
On a 60 it could have been a dump it cabin for fenders / lines etc ?

We don’t know who was driving at said crash .

It’s all in the prosecutors hands now , but the details , the exact boaty details , CoL regs adherence etc , it all will eventually emerge .

Tragic of course for all .
