Fastnet

Good to see griff Rhys Jones on the start line this morning.

Best of luck to all those entrance... And those that were OCS that took them yonks to get back over the line, with no wind and the tide running west.

I was going to anchor off Hurst last night to watch them today, then I started fixing a few things that dragged on, looked again at the forecast today, then the thought better of motoring back against the tide to Gosport.
So I did a load of other jobs on board that really needed doing and found some more that now need doing...and watched the start via tracker http://www.rolexfastnetrace.com/Tracking-Full-Page-Hidden/2015-fleet-tracking-race-player.html

Not the same, but I'd still be motoring and I've done some work today instead :0)

Graham, you would have been competing with 2 dozen other yachts jostling for the best position. By the time the lead boats arrived at Hurst the tide was running really strongly south along the inside of the Keyhaven to Hurst shoreline (the trap?) making a choppy ride for those anchored at the point. Great turnout at Hurst Castle, must have been 2000 people stood watching the race. Large green tri was leading by several minutes at Hurst. A rather nice wooden yawl was doing exceptionally well, probably 12th at Hurst and leading some big tri's. Huge fleet, hadn't apprciated how many were taking part.

Pete

I've just been playing with the tracker and watching the starts on fast forward and rewind, the tracker stars at 7am so you can see all the boats come from around the Solent....you can almost here the OCS guys crying...
