Thanks. Navel vessel is LE Ciara of the Irish naval service. She's a peacock class ex-Royal Navy. Used to be based in Hong Kong before being sold to INS. She has twin V18 diesel engines. Her role now is drugs interdiction and fishery protection off Irish coast.

Fab photos, Hope to be down that way ourselves this weekend.

Was to go last week with ''Big Buddy'' but had a tensioner pulley come off on my KAD 32 just as we rounded the 'Old Head'. Not a nice place for it to happen as we were taking a tight course close to the Head, but all is sorted now.

Did you meet 'Fluttering Boy' from Portumna as he was heading home from Kinsale, i am sure he is back on home water with his new 45'. While in Kinsale one of Billy's favorite pastimes was nipping through the hole under the Old Head at ''Hole Open Bay'', said he did it several times in the Ribeye tender.

Would love to nip through Bull Rock - but maybe in a rib..

Hi John, oops that's not nice. I shredded a belt back in June off the Blaskets in a 5, but managed to make it to Lawence Cove on the 2nd belt. Didn't meet Billy as he returned a few weeks ago. He took delivery of his brand new Broom 450 in June. 1st of the new builds since the company was taken over. He's very happy with her. She's a serious offshore boat, but palatial interior and an aft master cabin that would shame many 55 footers.

OF in Dingle for a few weeks, hope to spend a few weekends down there before returning to Killaloe. Next year I am definitely going through the Bull in the tender which had a sounder, and if it's as deep in there as they say, I might bring OF through and get a family member to video from the tender.

Next year we may move to East Ferry marina in Cork harbour for a season. Fabulous location, great service, access by train, and easy reach to loads of local beauty spots by water. Cheers

The Cow Rock has a nice polo mint arch also

Not sure I'd like to go through that with the strong tidal stream there. It's rather gothic and foreboding though. More like the south china seas.
