Let's say they all pay £4k. You've then got £1.2m to run an international sports event for 2,000 participants over a week or so. I think the RORC is going to be quite dependent on Rolex's sponsorship to get near to break-even.
well for a nearly a week you don't see anyone, they are not costing much, just wave them off and wave them back in, but of course they don't even see everyone in as the race village in Plymouth shuts Friday evening, so for a lot of entrants they report their own finishing time... still sounds a good rouse to me.
