Fastest GRP Long Keeler under 36' designed 1988 or earlier?

Another forum has a similar thread and the Rustler 36 seemed a popular choice for the most likely to be the fastest given the full range of wind that will be encountered.

I'll be following one boat in the race very closely, the R36 that was recently sold by my father is entered in the race by a well known French sailor.

Well, except that any of Suhaili's sister boats built in any material including steel and wood are allowed.

Not according to the website. Must be GRP and minimum of 20 built from one builder.

Very restrictive criteria, but does give a fairly wide range of very similar boats.

It is going to be fun to watch.

I think it may not be down to the fastest boat or even the best technical sailor but to the most single minded slogger.

This is from the Pre Notice of Race...

5.1.3. Replicas
A William Atkins ERIC design yacht built in steel, fibreglass or wood, presented in a Southern Ocean seaworthy state and built as a Suhaili replica, may be considered for the Golden Globe Race on special application.

This is not just about the fastest hull speed but more so the ability to balance a boat nicely in most conditions whereby it can maintain a good average speed. The Rustler 36 might be the fastest on paper but my understanding is that is not the best balanced (in comparison to others on the list) so maintaining that high speed may become an issue.

Seems that the organiser has excluded the boat that ought to have one the original race. Bernard Motessier's Joshua.
Plenty of replicas in existence.
