Farewell and fair winds to Big Dave @ Bell Weir

Always camera shy, often misunderstood, over 40 years served, lock keeper of the year 2015, very dry sense of humour, what a difference a Dave has made. No, he doesn't take your lines because you need to learn how to manage your boat for when he's off duty, which, from tomorrow, is forever.

I always liked him. Proper character. Years ago I got into a bit of a conversation about the River and history etc and it was enjoyable.
