Does anyone have any experience of these heating panels?wondering if 2 small ones say 150w each would do much in a 30 ft boat open plan saloon and forecabin , one in forepeak the other in the aft cabin. Whilst on shore power I use a ceramic fan heater at 1.5kw, however these infrared heaters sound like they could be a better option, although expensive!!

Get close and the part of you it's pointing at may feel warm. But not the rest of the saloon / aft cabin.. 2 are 1/5 of the power. Does the the 1.5 kW get too hot?

Expensive and ineffective - radiant heat will only affect (preferably black) objects in its direct path.
So infinitely less effective than a fan heater @ 300 watt. Does not your 1.5kW ceramic heater not have a 50% power output?
If not, and you want to save money get an oil-filled electric radiator (with thermostat and timer) or a smaller fan heater - IMHO ceramic elements are another means of justifying a price premium over the old hot-wire element.

The write ups on the far infrared suggest that surfaces heat as opposed to the air. The fan heater is good and is thermostatically controlled, but would not consider leaving on all night. One write up suggests 600w far infrared is equivalent to 1.5kw convection.

Subjectively true if he was sitting directly in front of both. Suggest you go back to the basics of Physics on the difference between radiant and convective heating - you might then realise you're being subjected to a marketing half-truth.
