Fancy sleeping at anchor, with A/C and stabs on, in complete silence?

or just buy a big sailing catamatan. two engines, full set of sails, how much redundancy do you need.......

out of curiosity, will a cat running on one engine go straight on crablike sideways?

re earplugs, you could try advanced noise cancellation tricks, sure they are cheaper than all that gear crammed in the e/r, but as someone else mentioned 60-70lt/h to shift a 100+ton thing at 9-10kn IS impressive

cheers

or you could leave the gennie on and buy these:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/foam-ear-plugs - I can sell you special boat versions that float as well and are a bright luminous colour if you drop them in the sea at £1000 per ear.

Yes please put me down for 10. I can see immediately that these specially marinised floating ear plugs could have significant additional benefits in terms of being able to block out other harmful noise sources. "Whats that dear, something about visiting your mother this weekend ................. sorry, can't hear you at all as I have my specially marinised floating ear plugs installed to block out the noise of the gennie"

Worth every penny of £1000 a side I would say;)
