Years ago, I used to visit a vast fancy dress shop on West mersea, as they specialised in Theatrical Costume, and not the flimsy knock offs that are common today.
I cant seem to find them in the book or a website.
Anyone know what happened to them?

There is one in Colchester in Magdalen Street (although I think it's called Brightlingsea Fancy Dress) but I've never been in there. From the window display it looks like a fairly typical fancy dress shop. Jim, if you want me to go and check it out, let me know what you're looking for.

Now where did I put that 'hush my mouth' smiley ? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thank you Helen, ignore Waldorf & Stadtler's heckling.

I am looking for, ahem, a King Neptune outfit.

No its gone. Now the Tishtash Indian Restaurant. I know they still dabble in theatrics a little. The people who own the building, not the restaurant.

Make your own.

Crown out of an old tin of antifoul. It's even got a chinstrap to stay on your head.
Boathook modified to look like a trident.
False beard (if necessary) made from teased out cordage.
Wig, ditto.
Cape made from knackered sail.
Agricultural type gumboots for the quintissential East Coast look.
