Ferretti do......

(Apologies: Although I can access this article via an RSS feed, you don't seem to be able to get it via the url. In essence, what it's saying is that Ferretti are increasing their workforce in Brazil in order to service an antipated growth in sales there, and to make up for flagging sales in their traditional markets.

Apparently more than 5,000 mobos will be manufactured in Brazil this year.

Well - I thought it was interesting :))

Yep.
Azimut also opened a factory there.

Another interesting all Brazilian company is to be Intermarine who used to built under licence modified Azimut's for over 10 years, and then are going with there own brand.

The Brazilian market is on fire at the moment!

If the quality of the machinery I've seen coming from Brazilian manufacturers is anything to go by, then Ferretti risk damaging their brand by building boats in Brazil, especially if they start to sell those boats in Europe. Of course, it might just be a final assembly operation with all the critical components and sub assemblies still manufactured in Italy. I'm sure Ferretti have thought this through but all the same, there's got to be a lot of risk in this strategy

Both Ferretti and Azimut have said that European and Asian sales will still be built in Italy, with the Brazilian premises first suppling the South American market and later on the North American. The components of both brands should still be coming from Italy, with fitting out and fiberglass moulding works being done in Brazil.
I would not be fast in critisizing Brazilian or South American craftsmanship as most old Bertrams where built by people from the area (mostly Cuban and Mexican) immigrated to Miami, and these sportfish cruisers and yachts like the old 54 are still considered to be among the best boats ever built.
Now in all things you just need good super vision.

MYAG I am sure there is a part of truth in that too!
