Looking at sailing over from Southwold to Amsterdam via ijmuiden next weekend.

Leave Fri night and come back Monday/Tuesday.

So far it's myself and a couple of workmates so we have room for two or three more if anyone is interested or knows of anybody wanting to some mile building etc.

Just a thought.......

Sounds good to me. Am self-employed so need to work out timings tomorrow (Mon). Just picked this up after a perfect w/e on boat.
What is boat, have you done this trip before, cost sharing, safe parking?
I have ICC, few trips to Netherlands in logbook, fit and strong, like a drink and the odd cigar, however am greying fast and well middle-aged.
Perhaps you could let me know tomorrow before diary gets booked. Could do with such a break.
Hold that thought Javelin.........

The boat is a MGRS34 but semi cruiser-ised,
Masthead rig rather than the tall, bendy, fractional rig with runners.
with a 30hp yanmar under cockpit rather than a 10hp next to the mast in the main cabin and a 100 lt tank giving a motoring range of 250nm -ish.
See http://www.mgrs34.info/somersault-2/ for photos.

I've not actually been to Ijmuiden in this boat and it was at least twenty years I sailed there in a previous boat.
However we've been over the water to Breskens, Roompot a couple of times last year and have been to Ostend and Blankenberge this year along with trips up the Thames, Medway, Ramsgate in the past couple of months.

I'm the wrong side of 50 so age is not an issue plus we're likely to have a couple of workmates from here at the yard come along, one in his energetic late 20's and an early 40 something.

Parking will be at the yard at Southwold, is it safe? well if you drive a DB9 I'd be a little nervous but otherwise no issues.
Costs, not thought about it much, I guess we share but there should not be too much expense really.

Sounds like a plan! Certainly looks seaworthy. Just a black Mondeo, not over concerned but once had a sticker in the past 'I've Parked in Southwold'. References from Peter Wilson or Upsons down here if you want.
Will PM phone numbers/email first thing in morning. As with many boating ventures I will understand if it doesn't work out but will put a big bracket around next weekend, cheers.

We came back from IJmuiden about 3 weeks ago.

Two things to note:
The new TSS - shown on any 2014 chart - there is a convenient gap just south of the IJ approach, and you can sail parallel to the channel, a few miles south of it until the harbour - it is a very easy one to enter.
There is a new windfarm construction site right on the track (about 10 miles off IJmuiden, I think) that I have described, which probably won't be on your charts. The guard ship will call you up as you get close - very polite and helpful - they told us the course we would need to clear the site. The site has a comprehensive set of cardinals surrounding it.
