Hey

I am doing a blog on boats from movies and need a few good ideas.

Does anyone know of some cool boats from tv or the movies?

Thanks
Martin

Sahara, Africa Queen, Titanic, any number of Bond movies (From Russia With Love, Live and Let Die, etc), Miami Vice...there are websites full of this stuff, Google it.

Cider Apple (broom 37 crown) was used in that funny mel and smith movie in the 80's 'wilt' i think it was called.!

Uncle Albert cruising past the Houses of Parliament, just after The Trotters became "millionaires"
Nice boat, anyone know/remember what it is?

Not that princess for sale in Swansea by any chance? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

There's a Capri 16ft dory with a cuddy for sale at Derwent Water that towed a paracender in a Bond Movie (allegedly). Doesn't get much more exciting that that. It's a bit of wreck.

Yep,

Hunton 43 was the Sahara boat. The production company bought 3 identical. One got blown up, one used for some shooting( the one in the Hamble) and the other for promotion and was given back to hunton. Very dodgy colourscheme as well!

Cheers

The 'Barracuda of Tarrant' is currenlty in Brighton Marina looking very sorry for herself. The 'Flying Fish' still races out of Hamble for one of the clubs and up until January the 'Spring of Tarrant' (you wont have got that far if only on series 3) was on the hard at the Elephant (Mermaid) boat yard at Bursledon.

Oh yeah, a bright yellow SCARAB

Sweet.

Speaking of SCARAB boats, what about the 80's icon from Miami Vice?

I want one of those - wonder if the LDPNA / FOLD (on W'mere) would like it too ?

Now, wasn't the good steam yacht 'Esperance' featured in one of the early Swallows & Amazons films ?

One of my fave films, Apocalypse Now, has some great motorboating action when the patrol boat transports Willard upriver to kill Kurtz
But my all time fave motorboat movie action is in Caddy Shack when Rodney Dangerfield runs amok in a large motor cruiser and ends up dropping it's anchor thru the deck of the Commodore's new yacht. Priceless

Talking about Bond-movies. In the latter parts of 'The world is not enough' the bad guys drive a princess 40 called 'Seven Heaven'. Incidently, there is a P40 in the finnish lakes with the same name. Just wondering if it's the same boat, or is the owner just a Bond fan.

There is also the 'Manticore' from Golden Eye, which for certain is a Finnish boat. The real name is 'Northern Cross'.

hi

thanks guys. I have put some of your thoughts into the blog and you can view them on the above in the blog section of the location. ( I'm still getting to grips with this forum)

I watched sahara but cannot remember the boat. Gonne have to check out love film.

The Baywatch scarab is awesome and David is just hillarious.

It's not wasy finding images of these boats though I must say but the search is on.

Thanks again for the ideas
