Famous Duran Duran Yacht Now Fully Restore

Great to see her restored, always nice to see there are some people willing to do good with their money.

I'd thought this might be about 'Drum', now that's a boat with a few tales to tell ! :D

There was a thread on here recently about Eilean - here is a link :

Re the article in the MedBerths link above, I would have thought that the Editor of this esteemed publication would know enough about boats to be able to proof read the script before it was issued....... for instance, they say "The ketch was stripped until all that remained was the bare steel hull" - but she is teak planked on steel frames.

And then they say "So nearly 150 years since she first set sail from a fishing village on the Firth of Clyde she’ll be racing again".
I suppose that a yacht approximately 80 years old could be described as being almost 150 years old, but I don't think she would be very happy if you did so.....

I thought the standard of the Daily Mail article about her was not brilliant - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/mos...-yacht-How-watchmaker-wind-Eileans-sails.html but I think that the MedBerths mob have trumped even the Mail..... :D

And as usual, the MedBerth gives no credit to the previous owner who battled for years on a shoestring to keep Eilean alive.

She be in Antigua for Classics in fact a number of editors were invited aboard for the crossing, I believe Dan Huston form CB was the only one who went due to time constraints!

Watch out for pix and reports in Yachting World soon (on line and in print)

Anyone know how Drum is, after the tussle with the rocks on Kerrera last year?
DRUM is in the shed at Fairlie and, when I last looked, the hull damage had been remedied and the damaged rudder was lying out. (It may be that the whole assembly is being replaced).
An impressive looking yacht ,in and out of the water.
