Thanks He is 10 now so you need to pry him off his gameboy before he will do anything usefull.

We found disposable sterile babybottle liners were a godsend at that age Now 10 years later we just need charged up batteries in the game boys /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Our other son (in case he sees this and gets jealous) (pic taken about the same time)

The toddling phase was the hardest for us. Mobile enough to get into danger but too small to realize it.

I'm sure there's plenty of us out there. However, it would be nice if there was some way of quickly getting in touch with others sailing with kids the same age in the same place at the same time - more of a motivation for them if they could meet up and play when you get 'there'.

All of ours have been sailing with us from 3 months on, and they love it.

Dave,

I found it to happen quick enough via this forum without resorting to a dedicated place for it...

Our kids have had quite a few fun encounters with fellow forumite kids in the last few years.....

You've only got to post a place and time, and you'll most likely get at least one other taker.....

Our kids met others at forum events, and got on. Had no end of invitations to cruise or meet up on boats, as once kids meet, they are happy to attend, and parents are keen to keep that up

Over the years I've found that most cruisers are SKI-ing (spending kids inheritance) and as such are likely to be "old gits".
Cruising families with young kids are few and far between.

A seperate forum would - IMHO - die an early death (-> mostly "old gits").
Having said that: N°2 child (10) seems to find other kids within 10 minutes of arrival. It's the N°1 child (15 - teenager, say no more) who tends to end up miseable & alone. Only to find out - when we're about to leave - that there was an equally miserable teenager 2 boats down.

Early in January I posted a note in the 'Liveaboard' section entitled 'Living the dream - with a Centurion 32', about my pals Jon and Genevieve, and their 2 year old daughter Skye who are sailing on a voyage from England to New Zealand with their lovely Centurion 32 'Vadis'.

This thread has compelled me to post the wonderful photo of Skye below, sent by her parents in an email recently. The grin on her face sums up her sunny personality absolutely - Skye is one little mermaid who is totally 'at home' on the boat, or in the water - when they were in Barbados (they are now in Grenada) she could swim happily with just a token amount of air in her floaties - not bad for a crew who had just had her 2nd birthday!

I am sure that at this rate she will be standing watches before too long......
