Cock Up on the sail valeting front sees FC without a Genoa for another week. The good news is that I have secured the last available starter motor for my Yanmar 3YM30. Apparently there is a bit of a run on those lately.
I also have resecured my Radar/Chartplotter cable and plug to Autopilot from the fixers too.
With luck and a following breeze (and it seems there will be quite a lot of breeze) FC will be parked on Fambridge pontoon from Saturday lunchtime until Monday lunchtime, where I intend to finish the baot fixing wot didnt get done before launch, knit myself some new fenders and read Jimmy Cornell books.
Oh yes, and the intention is to have a barbecue on the sea wall on Saturday evening, sort of. If its hissing down, then the Ferry Boat Inn will be renominated as caterers.

Please pop by and say Hello if you are passing, and join us if you want for a beer or the bbq.

You may well be greeted by the odd sight of a mastless Stella somewhere adjacent. Dont worry, its intentional, apparently.

Radio watch on 16 will be maintained........

If not, have a nice weekend wherever you are.....

Vreny is at Bridgemarsh having fun in the mud.

after this year I don't think I ever want to see a paintbrush for a long long time. (Pity about having to varnish the mast this weekend).

We had to take her back to bare wood as the previous owner had coated her in epoxy and she was starting to go rotten in places underneath. Lots and lots and lots of heatgun and scraping but we did it just in time. Just one plank to replace next year depending on how she gets on this season. So far she seems to be fairly dry but lets see what happens when she is floating 24/7 rather than 2 hours per tide.

Fambridge: Mission Success.

Bill greeted. Tick

New starter motor fitted (still no Genoa) and we went to Fambridge to stay on the pontoon. Still a tenner a night, same as last year, regardless of length.
Very busy on Saturday, as West Mersea YC rallied to Fambridge, either 10 or 11 boats, but plenty anyway. By the spound of them, they enjoyed themselves and all went on the tide Sunday morning. They were immedaitely replaced by the Old Gaffers Association, and some very fine boats showed up for that.
Word is that Ferry Boat Inn remains a decent pint and good food.
We had Solene join us, and it was so busy they rafted to us. Mr, and soon-to-be Mrs Vreny joined us by Land Rover, and fetched along the barbecue for Saturday night, so we fed like pigs and quaffed a decent Rioja or two until it was agreed that I should rush away and set light to Full Circles Webasto and put the kettle on. Coffee and Brandies in the Saloon all went down well, and we all retired to our respectives beds/boats with a comfortable glow.
Also saw CentaurPipeDream who returned my 'pattern' snuffer on his way home.
Today saw Solene return to Burnham to Mummy Duck Vreny who was travelling from winter at Bridgmarsh to meet up with her mast in Burnham. All went well, so thats nice.
Full Circle remains in Fambridge for another night, but I am pleased to relate that the needed and promised boatfixing has happened, ans its fretful owner is now feeling much better.

Confused

I thought you bought a new boat /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Sounds like a project/restoration to me /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

PS: still not over that Roger Mellie remark /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
See you in Ostend

Re: Confused

Its permanently a work in progress which is hacking me off.

Today: Stern Gland Dripless( /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif) seal is dripless. Thats because it ought to be called a Gusher, which is a bilge pump. Not so in this case, its my constant flow bilge cooler. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
In fact I am thinking of renaming the boat Full Bilges.

Still, just to show we do have nice things happen, here are a couple of shots of the Fambridge BBQ.

Re: Confused

I recognise a few faces there Jim , good to see you weren't alone

Don't suppose the converted steel barge is still at Fambridge is it ?

Re: Confused

There is one there, Dutch registered, sort of maroon coloured, someone welding loads of plate on it.

Re: Confused

Brian, you are soulless.
However, we had the cunning plan, as Ferry Boat was not accepting bookings as they had 50 or 60 West Mersea folk turn up.

Re: Confused

They told me that was going to be moved in six weeks , back in the Persevere days /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif they got that a bit wrong I think . What condition is she in now ?
