Falmouth to Fowey: maiden trip tomorrow, all advice gladly received!

Also, when going round The Bill we're planning on being closer to France than England.

You wouldn't be the first to use the option of going via France/Channel Islands for the trip, nor would you be the last if you did it. Gives you some angle on the wind if its a constant easterly. I've done Salcome to Guernsey and it was a very pleasant trip.

After her maiden passage. HER.

Sniffy is a girl :)

Oops ...a thousand apologies!!

BTW if you do find yourself closer to France you might consider a stop in Alderney; a lovely place if somewhat quiet and the detour will only add a little over 30 miles to the beeline from Salcombe to the Solent. That said it looks like tomorrow will be a great day after which it'll prob be too blowy until next Tuesday, for a new boat that is.

What ever you do, be safe, have a fab sail and don't be afraid to come on here to ask for the best spots it you find yourself holed up somewhere.:encouragement::encouragement:

If you do find yourself holed up in Fowey, go to Mixton Pill where it is completely sheltered and its a nice walk round to the Ferryboat

And then quite expensive to take the ferry over to Fowey as a foot passenger.

Its a short and easy trip. Mixtow Pill is quite good in season but I dont know whether the showers etc will be open at this time of year. In which case I would be inclined to pick up a mooring opposite the town and use the Yacht Club facilities. The town isnt much.

Weather tomorrow is easy N/NE to lunchtime then building from the south. A miserable 10C so you will be cold. Just done the run down to Falmouth and I was as cold as I ever have been.
