Hi. I'm back on the water this season after a few years away. Hoping to get to Falmouth in mid June. Never visited before by boat and unsure where to head. Thought I would ask for advice from any locals out there before I go trolling through the options. We prefer to be close to the action but fear we may have to be further out or on a mooring perhaps. We are 58 feet motor boat. Thanks.

Right

58' should not be a problem at any of the three marinas as long as you call ahead.

Port Pendennis http://www.portpendennis.com/facilities.html is perfect for being in the centre of things, a lot of the Shanty activity will be taking place in Events Square and there are oodles of restaurants and bars in very close proximity. Can recommend the steaks at the Ranch and the Seafood at the Shack.

Falmouth Marina https://www.premiermarinas.com/uk-marina-locations/falmouth-marina is a further along the Penryn River, lovely marina and good restaurant/bar. You will have a 15 minute walk into Falmouth town centre but both the marina facilities and general atmosphere at the marina are very good. Speak to either Mark Evans or Mark Dash to try and book a berth, could be ok for June...

Mylor Marina https://www.mylor.com is a great spot for a relaxing lay up. You will not be able to get to Falmouth without utilising the water taxi or land based version thereof. Speak to Tristan who is very helpful and will book you a space.

All three options provide fuel, (pendennis is from the town fuel quay).

The town quay is also an option http://www.falmouth.co.uk/on-the-water/seafaring-information/marina-and-berth-information looks like a bit of a caravan site but is dead bang in the centre of things. Not sure if you can book but they have water and electric hook up.

Other options, you have around 20 visitor moorings just of the town quay, (green), these are handy in the Summer when things get busy but I would advise against them as they are adjacent to the main channel and it gets choppy.
You have St Mawes, (moorings), which is lovely. Should be on your list for at least one overnighter with a visit to the Trensanton, (Polizizi Owned), for lunch or dinner on the veranda.


My view would be to take the main stay at either Pendennis or Falmouth Marina, (you will need to book), and enjoy a night or two in St Mawes and Mylor if your time allows. I would be upset :) if you did not pop down the Helford river for a day or even overnight on the again, green, visitor moorings. You have a great pub either side and access to Glendurgan or Trebah Gardens or maybe take the tender to the beach at the Burdock Vean hotel...

A swift update. The only marina that would take a booking turned out to be Mylor, so we will be there from 11th - 14th June all being well. A visit to St Mawes sounds like a fine idea too. Thanks again for the advice.

Great stuff, Mylor is lovely, a bit further out but very relaxed.
Make sure that they put you on the inside if you are on the visitors pontoon as it can be sloppy on the outside.



Might see you @ Eden and have a great time!
