hello all - been a while since i posted on here. weather has been less than perfect, been away a bit and also more significantly the boat has been out of the water getting mended

the engines were overheating and i had the impellors changed, then the water pump seemed not to be working on one of them and on and on and on....

so - i am pleased with the way that the people who did my boat did it, but want to know who do you guys use down in the falmouth area on your boats for the engine stuff?

one of the engines is getting hotter again...be nice to have a second opinion before i shell out again

any stand out engineers down here that i might contact?

many thanks!

fwiw - had a great weekend just gone mind, into the helford river, found a little secluded anchorage i hadn't been to before and had a great meal at a very nice pub. will get some pics up here soon!

If you have petrol v6 or v8 then its usually the manifolds and risers that are corroded away thus blocking the raw water flow out of the block, unless it has the heat exchanger conversion, which if so could be blocked, would still look at ex man and risers, unless thay have been changed.

If you want a Volvo engineer you are looking at Challenger Marine, at Penryn.
General engineer there is Marine Trak at Mylor Yacht Harbour, they were a reasonable outfit. There are about 5 other firms/enginers, depends how far or deep you want to look.

Hi

I'm based in Falmouth Marina and for my past two boats, one petrol one twin diesil I have always used Versatile Marine in Penryn. 01326 376084 or 07749 860581 ask for 'Spike' would never use anyone else. Good value and goes beyond the call. Has full machine shop and can fabricate anything.

I would personally recommend Dave Llewellyn, marine engineer at Falmouth. He does all the work on my boats.
Good chap to know. 07973523329.
I have known him for years.
