Falmouth Marinas - Revisiting

The Yacht Haven is not council run.
If I was leaving my boat there for any length of time it would be best to secure an inside berth, as mentioned any wind from east through north east is very bumpy.
If you chat to any of the livaboards there they are friendly with some world girlers, who'll definately keep an eye on your boat.
 
Final Decision

Chose Mylor - primarily based on certainty(Availability, Arrangements & Slip/Mooring Location), staff communication / responsiveness and physical location.
Even they admit = "We're more expensive" & they certainly are especially when their August surcharge is added........but in the end I felt more comfortable here than talking to &/or observing Yachthaven.

Not a balanced opinion since I never stayed at YH.....but I have NO desire to pay for a slip or pontoon spot - then be rafted up X 3 (that was the option on 7/27 when I called) & when asked about moving/departing told I would have to negotiate with raftees .........

Everyone will make their personal choice based on need(s), time involved and budget allotted.
So hopefully my choice will be uneventful & in the end value will win out.

Thinking of going to Falmouth area next week for 3-5 days, not to race or anything, but to enjoy the events + film making as a spectator. Question is...will there be any room? In general we prefer visitor buoys or at anchor to marinas anyway, but is it just better to stay away and leave it a week or two? Thoughts?

You sound like sensible-keep-out-of-marinas people. There is always anchorage room arround falmouth. More or less anywhere up the river you can always find a peacefull and sheltered place. I have a mooring in the harbour but often anchor for the night elsewhere. Chris.

Probably cos it's tidal, and there isn't a great amount of availability there, it always looks full.

A fin keeler can happily sit in the mud, but it's in Ryn, not Falmouth, and them there Rynners are a different breed* :)

*not actually true, but when you go to Falmouth School, it's blasphemy to utter anything different
 
Snooks, you're right, we are a different breed, however theres often a space or 2 available. Yes its tidal, but Penryn is an up and coming area, just the other day I saw a motor car, and no one has eaten their kids at all this summer!!!!!

Hang on, the summer holidays have only just started, how can Rynners eat their "children" when the "children" are s'posed to be at school? (Even though they're prolly diving off Penryn bridge at high tide, or hanging out at the park)

Give it a week or two and they'll be guzzling their offspring with the same enthusiasm I quaff a pint of Skinners and a Rowes pasty:D
