I looked at a Birchwood B370 a while back and your comments were cautious (to put it politely). To show that I have been listening carefully to all the forum advice, I looked at a Targa 37 this week - I prefer the cockpit in the B370 but really there's nothing in it. The 37 is very close to what we are looking for...
So, a '96 T37 - what should I be looking out for? What would you pay for her? Seems in nice order, although an engine rebuild was recently necessary.....
All the best

Tony,

If it has KAD42's fitted, then check that the engine rebuild included the replacement of the exhausts. The pre-purchase engine survey spotted on my T39 with KAD42's that the tops of the exhausts (where they connect to the engine via a rubber gland) were corroded. If they get very bad they can let water in. rob.

These are simply much much sexier than the alternatives - good looking boats on the outside with no trace of aluminium cheapy fittings, and mini-superyacht inside with the most of the grp hidden ina smart fitout of leather, fabric and polished wood. Smart galley and unhateable (?) white-theme shower/wcs. Only offputting things (if chosen ) is the scottish greeny tartan for the saloon seating.

If the mechanicals are good, the expensive things are fabric stuff - seats, canvas tops and so on all cost a load of loot to replace.

Next off for a boat 8 years old is the instruments as gps plotters, radar etc may be a bit secondhand.

£100k max for one this old, i think, and a 96 must have been an early one - they are a 36 with bigger bathing platform which suddenly became de rigeur about that time.

Deffo a timeless classic, miles better than 370. Go for a navy hull if poss. Plenty built and plenty always available on the second hand market. Find the best and bargain hard.
