Fairline Targa 37 max RPM ??

Thanks all.....

Well I'm over in portugal now, boat is slower than ever ! Had a good look @ it's bottom / drives & they look clean, a little silt/fur but really very little, can't be a prop size issue as it travelled fine in the earlier months of this year, am I right in thinking the supercharger cuts in first & then out about 1,200 rpm? Then the turbo takes over? I can clearly detect the supercharger on the port side engine but unsure about the starboard? but opposite is the case with the turo chargers, can clearly hear it ( slight winning noise ) on the starboard over 1500rpm but cannot detect it on the port engine after the supercharge cuts out? Local engineer looking mid week after we leave...

Just had our boat lifted and bottom cleaned, could not believe how bad it was once out off the water,as others have said I would clean bottom, change fuel filters then re test.

I have not long owned a Fairline Targa 37 1999,with twin kad 44's, I'm a little disappointed with the top end speed / max RPM which is approx 3000rpm giving a top speed approx 22 / 24 knots, I had read articles stating top end speeds in excess of 30 knots. Apart from lack of RPM both engines seem to run normally with both engines maxing out at a little over 3000RPM
Any advise would be much appreciated..

When you did sea trails before taking ownership of the vessel what WOT #'s and top speed did you attain??

Really need to give the props a proper clean -snorkel+ cake knife .
Superchargers ( kad300 ) cut in @ 1400 rpm and out @ 2600rpm -winning stops and a deep roar takes over as turbos kick in and boat takes off .
Wot same day after annual antifoul (Easter) etc is as VP say up arround 3600 rpm gives 38-have seen 40 on the gps this decreases by August to 3300-ish wot to 32-34 knots .
Props need a good clean+ polish every 4-6 wks
3000rpm early on in the season= 28-29knot cruise.
By Ockober same rpm 3000 =24 knot even with a prop clean .

If its not "normal fouling " then try new air filters -are they asthmatic ?
Hope this helps

With the overwhelming advise about my dirty bottom, arranged a lift & scrub yesterday & what a difference !!!
Boats back to normal easly on the plain & loads of power

Thanking everyone for there advise.

Yes, however you still have not answered the vital question................Are you making engine rated speed at WOT?

A 37 Targa with KAD 44s should do from 35+ knots. A friend of myn did 36 knots WOT out of them in a 2000 build.

What I always scratch my head is that another friend who owns a 37 from 1996 does the same speed with KAD42s 230hp units.

Fairline declared 34-36 knots with 230hp, and 34-38 with 260 units.

According to the max RPMs nos I heard it seems that the correct prop sizes do not seem to exist for a 37 Targa with 260hp in the central med sea.
