Hi all.

Asking for a friend. Port engine not starting. Just a click. Port engine battery 13.25V. When he tried to start with cables straight to the starter motor engine did not start but it was moving ok, but did not start. Relays and wires was checked. What is the next step?

Cheers

Your ‘ click “ is not enough umph from the bat .
The jump leads gave the umph ( from the same bat ? ) so there’s a connection issue there .Corrosion of the contacts / leads being number 1 reason .
It turns / spins but does not fire now probably because there’s some other electronic components that’s are not getting any power - eg and exclusive say a fuel open solenoid.

Or there’s a fuel blockage ie no fuel getting in , but it sounds like an electrical issue .
There will be other solenoids activated by the ignition too , a Vp mechanic will be along some hopefully.

Most Fairline’s have a battery combining switch on the helm

Start the good one. Push the button. Wait 30 seconds. Try the dead one

Cables to the starter are one thing but the engine needs voltage as well.

Had the same issue, same boat and engines, but still couldn't start using the combining switch from the other battery/engine. Engineer cleaned all connections with contact cleaner and no issues since. It could be as simple as a loose or poor connection, hopefully.

Was the ignition off on the port side before you hit the transfer switch and waited 30 sec? simply an idea as electronics do not like the wrong voltage so unless is has the correct volts from the beginning it may not like it.

Hi
At friends boat. The neutral light on port side do not light. Electrical ones.

I read this as it now does not recognise N. So will not attempt to start , - send power to the starter motor and any other solenoids like I think the fuel etc .

So having checked / cleaned all the wiring on the engine 1 first , now look @ throttle housing , I suspect there’s some sort of micro switch to guard N , ?
If the ECU can,t see N from the lever it won,t start
