Fairline Targa 34

I have a targa 34 and the starboard nav light, the anchor light and the top white light have all suddenly failed ( the port light works okay ). I have checked the bulbs and the switch and all seem okay - has anyone experienced a similiar problem and might know how too fix?

Certainly sounds like there all on one circuit, seems strange way of doing it though considering one side of nav light is still on. Could also be worth checking for a bad connection to fuse panel. Oh something else just occured, I wonder if the light still on is the first on the circuit and the way they have wired it meens that if a bulb fails all the lights after that wont work. Maybe talking bollocks but just a thought.

I agree....definitely rather odd. Also worth checking if two feeds to same fuse and one has dropped out? Does thee not have a nice wiring diagram thingy you can look at?

Just a little additon to the fuse theory.Corrosion can cause high resistance at fuse/holder connection.If fuse not busted try twiddling a bit to clean contact.
Ps.May well also be sneaky extra fuse in earth return wire.Found this out after hours dismantling entire boat when my fridge packed up.

Is it possible that you have poked something in a locker recently or "fixed" something else and disrupted the supply / return. take off fittings snd check out connections and for continuityrtc.

Suspect that it is more likely that your boat is permanently parked in the wrong direction to the earths magnetic flow, and that this will affect your starboard side more quickly than the port, you will have to alternate the berthing port/starboard in order to even out the flow rate and achieve maximum longevity for your lights.

Please can you share your reply on the Nav lights with me for Targa 34? I have the same issue. Trips at the panel when turning to Nav. Anchor is ok. Thanks.
 
Ged, I think you're being a tad optimistic if you think someone will replay after 18 years!

To expand on my FB reply, the nav light switch will operate the port and starboard lights plus the forward and aft steaming lights. First thing to do is to disconnect each of the bulbs in turn and see if stops the tripping. If that fails, then you will need to check all of the instrument backlights (which are illuminated with the nav lights). If that doesn't work then it could be a faulty breaker. If it's not that then you're looking at a wiring issue which could be under the dashboard (if you've been in there recently) or potentially in the radar arch.
