Hi All
Are any owners of the above on the forum.

I have whittled it down to these 2, so any info would be great!

Both ips so I know the concerns by many, but I want ips to keep swmbo happy.

she can helm if the need arose and feels more confident in the marina.

Thanks in advance

Hi Steruth

I have the 500s, happy to take any questions and if you check out my profile you will find some subjective opinion.

Happy for you to pm me and if you are in the SW, come have a look around.

NIck Hatfield is your man at Ancasta, very nice guy and I've received outstanding support from them and Prestige generally.

Good luck with the decision :)

Well worth going to have a look at the latest 2016 model Squadron 48 - I was up at the factory looking around last week and they have improved the interior by adding more wood and generally bringing it in line with the larger boats.

Well worth giving Richard Bates a call 01932 571141 and going on a factory visit - you will be very impressed.

P.S Good Call regarding the IPS - people have problems when they do stupid things

Hi All, im away this week in spain hence limited wi-fi i will catch up with all the reply's once back.

i have heard about the p48, but would like to buy ready for the 2016 season.

Hi Nigel, thanks for the response. A few questions if ok.

I'm a little concerned with the finish compared to the others , princess , fairline etc has yours stood the test of time in both squeaks and looks.

I have sea trialled one and she handled great all but in a calm sea, what's your experiences

Would you buy another after owning one

I am looking to use as a bolt hole for a week at a time is it comfy and home from home for 4 people

Any bits I should add on to the normal spec genie Ac etc

Sorry for the list

Many thanks

Hi Mike

Have you driven the 48, I have heard a few bad stories of people buying last year and selling straight away due to how she handles, inside is nice and well put together, but there are a few kicking around with low hours and pretty new.

Any thoughts ?

This industry is full of rumours - if you were buying a £50K car you would test drive all the options - for 12 x the money I would go and test drive every boat and speak to genuine owners. Both Prestige and Fairline have sold enough of these models to get some real feedback.

Indeed this was the reason for this post, hoping someone owns both boats and can give some feedback.
I have tested the P500 but a hour on the water is no replacement for a owners point after 1 or 2 seasons.
The issue I have with the squadron is that most are on the market with low hours and barley a year old! Why?
I looked at the sbs model last year which looked very nice, I believe it's been sold and for sale again now.
I know both Sealine and princess are launching new models but not till next year which is a shame with sbs only 7 weeks away.

Hi Nigel

I have pretty much decided on the prestige, one last niggling point fairline/princess all say the boat is under powered especially with a full crew and tender on etc.

I know top speed is only 29 but how often does anyone do that?

Do you find it ok or what are your thoughts ?

Many thanks

29kts is pretty much on the money, with a few crew, full tanks and a 300kg tender.

You will rarely go at that speed for more than a few minutes and she's a lovely boat when set at around 3000 rpm and 22/24 kts. Your fuel consumption is very good at that speed versus other 50 footers.

Good luck

There's an article in this months Motorboat and Yachting which might be of interest and I'll send you a PM in a few weeks with some suggestions as to check lists for the handover and delivery survey...
