Fairline sedan 36 unused for 2 years...talk me out of it!

Thanks for the reply.
We think it's siezed due to lack of use. How do I tell if it's siezed to the housing or bearings?

Remove the exhaust elbow and take a look!
Seized to the housing on the exhaust side will be obvious.
If it looks good there, it's something else.

Have you tried removing the inlet duct / filter and tried flicking it over with your fingers. Could just be stuck.

I have a cross reference list for turbos somewhere. PM me if you want me to see if I can find it.

Well that's it, deal is agreed. The previous owner put on a brand new turbo and sea trail went well. WOT 2500 revs with a dirty bum. Slightly overfueled with a little black smoke but air filters are also very dirty. Ran on the plane for well over an hour and temps and pressures rock solid. 21 knots top speed which with a good service and bottom clean should improve a little I hope.

Really excited but a huge amount to do.

Thanks for the replies and all comments taken on board.

I will make sure I check all ancillary items and of course, have a survey undertaken. I feel reassured that 2 years stood still may not result in certain disaster. I am having a look next week so will update.

Thanks again

Hi I am sat at home just about to book a flight to return to my bottomless pit that I love my wife hates and the kids just look at me gone out .so I did the same as you last year and bought a sedan with 61a moored near Barcelona got it at the right price but just put a fortune into it but hay ho but you think you got problems try doing it in manyana capital of the frikin world, but anyway enjoy they are a great boat and remember it's only money you can't take it with you sir

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I am a few weeks away from finishing. As much as you ever do with a boat. It is transformed to say the least so hopeful for a good season. I certainly couldn't have done it from a "distance". I have enjoyed the journey so much. Getting an older boat back on form really does bring a great sense of pride. Wife still isn't interested. We got her an Evoque so that shut her up for a bit :):):)
