Hi

I'm negotiating the purchase of a 2007 Fairline Phantom 40 and I've just found out that the boat does not have a black water holding tank.

Any thoughts on how easy it is to retrofit? My understanding is that all boats built after 2006 should be capable of being fitted with holding tanks?

Any recommendations for companies in the Southampton area that could undertake such work?

Thanks.

James.

Welcome to the Forum James.

Here is a sistership for sale - in the specification they note that she has a 100 litre holding tank.

The photo in this link for Tek Tanks conveniently shows a holding tank set up that should hopefully be possible on your Phantom, where you simply install the tank somewhere along the length of the discharge hose, between the loos and the seacock. Ideally if you can have it higher than the overboard discharge then it can gravity feed overboard when you open the seacock on the through hull fitting.

Had two new, electric toilets, new pipework throughout , overboard discharge pump, deck fittings and 220lt holding tank fitted to the new to us 38' mobo recently. Never looked back.

Quiet, efficient and knowing the pipework is new and everything is top spec. gives peace of mind!
