Hi all - first post!

Anyway, I have an opportunity to purchase a 1981 Fairline Holiday (MK3 I believe).

We've seen the boat and had a little sea trial, everything seems in order (apart from perhaps lack of throttle lever friction) and she is in quite good condition considering the age. Very dry inside and feels quite homely.
At some point she was re-engined with a Volvo Penta turbo diesel and duo-prop, engine hours around 600.
She has had brand new canopy, toilet, cooker, Raymarine plotter, Icom DSC radio, davits, solar charging plus a load of other work.
She will be sold with fully serviced swinging mooring and onshore winter storage paid up until spring 2022 all transferred to new owner.

Asking price is £12k.

I don't know much about these boats and was wondering if any current or previous owners could share some experiences. I believe the Volvo engine is pretty bullet proof but not sure about the z-drive duo-prop.

Thanks in advance for any info.

Dan.

I could be wrong here but that looks like a 31, but I cannot see the breather filter, and it looks like the rear rocker box is taller than std with some sort of small pipe out of the side?

Looks like one of AQD4$? Range there will be a brass plate just above bottom of the crankcase
assuming it’s been looked after should be good for a while yet
someone who’s more current with them may be able to tie it down better
unless you have more knowledge a full service of the drive would normally required with particular attention to exhaust and drive bellows
the engine paint does not look original
Volvo Paul if he is anywhere about is the forum resident expert

Current owner assures me he has carried out servicing every year but hasn't specifically mentioned which items replaced. The couple bought the boat back in 2015 and have been doing maintenance & repairs every year. I understand it did have an overheating problem which was cured by flushing the cooling system.

Roughly how much would you expect to pay for a complete service on the engine and outdrive unit including bellows etc?

after checking fingeres only 4 cyl so 31 seemed correct
Cost of service no idea now sorry but likely to vary depending on location and how busy people are
