Hello fellow anoraks!! just got myself online so here goes....

I have an '84 Fairline 21 Weekend with a Kad32 diesel, would be interseted to hear from any other owners, or anyone else who has any info on these little boats?

I was dragged up on rag and sticks- but both myself and Dad have moved to the other side within the last year- you can actually get places at 20knots!!

Why is it that when you put the word 'marine' in front of any product the price instantly increases by 200%??!!

Wellcome to the world of boats and ££££££££££. But please. We have been called many things on here. Idiots. Barmy and even C***s. But never Anoraks. I resent that one! /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Thanks 4 the welcome chaps- youre right, anoraks is not right, maybe just passionate?!!

A question for lc- how long did you keep her for and did you use her for coastal stuff much? Im based on the Crouch in Essex (dont hold it against me!!) and have made a few successful trips up to Harwich/Ipswich and round to the Blackwater this year.

I intend on venturing a little further next season possibly round to the Solent for a summer session- any useful advice/experiences from owning yours? or anyone else that has made the same trip recently.

What is it with boats they take you over??!!!

Kept the Weekender for a couple of years but she was petrol engined. Good coastal boat, the hull could probably take a lot more than the crew.
Only problems ever had with the boat were loose electrical connections which could be a devil to find. Excellent choice for a first motorboat IMHO.

Never had a fairline but allways liked the finish quality on them, used to watch them being built in Plymouth or is that the princess ??

Any way I am moored in Faversham creek, not too far from you and you are allways wecome !! Let me know if you plan to come this way !

Nice boat Craig, petrol or oil burner?

Im getting the hood made with Gowen near Colchester, hav'nt seen it yet but I trust it will be okay!! -I needed something that would actually withstand planing speeds.

Their number is 01206 384412, ask for Dave Royce, he's been helpfull with my job.

Do you get down to the Crouch area much?

Hello Brian

I am based on the Thames Estuary and cruise the Crouch, Blackwater, Medway and Thames. I have been to the Solent from the Thames Twice and also on to the Channel Islands. All this in a 25 footer so shouldn't be any problem in yours given the right conditions. Kad32 is a nice conversion, should go really well.

Are you the 21 owner I faxed the article to yesterday?

Neale

Hi Mate,

Am very pleased with it, nice boat...

It is a petrol number, saw a diesel one for sale, but the £8k premium was about 4 years cruising to me.. so thought to hell with it!

Will give your chap a call... see what they say!

Have as yet to get to the crouch.. but will guarantee when i do, i will give you a shout...

Yes Neale, thats me- thanks for the info! She had a crappy petrol 120hp Volvo before- bought her cheap with a view to converting to diesel. She now tops out about 34knots for a fraction of the running costs and about 2000rpm lower at full chat!! cruises nicely down to about 13knots if trimmed right as well.

Ive spent a bit of time and effort this year refitting her inside as well. I know its not a new boat by any stretch of the imagination- but I've got everything as I want it, and a diesel boat for about 24k total- well pleased!

Hope I'll see you around someday- you work in London as well I presume- poor sod!!

Welcome to the forum dog. You seem to be settling in nicely. One or two regulars still to chip in but i'm sure you'll soon know when they do. A mellow sense of humour certainly helps.
Actually that's not true, feel free to wade in with outrageous humour, especially at your own expense, everyone else will. Enjoy./forums/images/icons/laugh.gif/forums/images/icons/laugh.gif
