My iron keel was grit blasted and epoxied last year but this left a very uneven surface where all the old fillers etc. also got removed by the process and I didn't have time to fair it properly before the beginning of this season so the epoxy had a primer and antifoul put on top before launching. This winter I would like to fair the keel properly with an easy to sand fairing compound that will adhere well. Prices for epoxy fairing compounds seem quite high at around £40-£50 per litre and I expect I will need quite a bit (approx. 6 Sq m of keel to fair ) ... any tried and trusted suggestions folks ?

You can make your own from basic epoxy mix with an appropriate fairing filler. suggest you look on the Wessex Resins website at the West materials and th techniques they use.
