Some time in the last year I saw a trial underway on long lasting wood finishes. There were two alternatives which were on an extended trial on the article writer's boat. The results looked good but I cannot now find the article in my back issues of PBO and YM.

Can anyone fill in the gaps please?

Many thanks in advance.

Chas

It has been in both the "old" Classic Boat and PBO written by Richard Hares. The top for life and low cost is a porous woodstain called Sikkens Novatec and Novatop. The longest disregarding cost is Coelan. Woodstains in general, probably including the relatively new International Woodskin generally outlast all the conventional varnishes, but lack their high gloss.

Try going to the YBW.com home page ... top left of this screen ... select PBO ... underneath Latest Issue is Back Issues ... quite detailed list of contents... may jog your memory.
