Hello guys,
I`m wondering if any of you know the difference beetween a 2007 and 2008 squadron 58.
Im in the market to buy one, and a 2007 have come up but i heard that something happend with the 2008 modells.

sorry for my bad english

There was a minor but noticeable change in 2004 ( chrome fittings not gold , pop up tv , more square portholes )

After that the changes were minor as far as I know.

There are a few flavours of pop up tv and audio cabinet fronts in the saloon and I beleive there was a more blond wood option that was not available earlier with higher gloss but I think that was it.

They also upgraded from the D12-715 to the D12-800 at some stage, but I'm not sure of when exactly.
Btw, IIRC jfm of this parish confirmed that the upgrade made zero difference in the second Sq58 that he had, compared to the first.
If anything, I'd rather go for a Cat 3406 powered boat, if you can find one.
Not because the D12 is a bad engine (probably one of the VP best, in fact), but the 3406 is even better.

Move to to the front of the class in the school of diplomacy :)

Why? Jrudge already knows that if given a choice, I'd rather have yellow than green engines, in my boat.
Besides, I said that the green ones he now has are among the best that VP ever built.
Last but not least, IIRC he used to have C18s in his previous boat!

Cat Volvo. I just turn the key. Current d12s are white ! Cat parts were £££. Impeller. Wow.

I think that the 800s were just an option as opposed to an upgrade but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the reply.
It’s the D12-800 in the boat im considering.
I thought more about whether there were any hull changes or upgrades in the electronics that make it worth waiting for a 2008 model to appear.

Yep, I know - Cats are white too nowadays, but old habits die hard, you know... ?

Ref Cat parts, fwiw I used to buy them online from the US.
And even with shipment, VAT and duties, the savings were well worth the hassle!

I don't know the Sq 58 and her "history" well enough to give you a factual answer.
But I would dare saying that the general answer to your question is always no, regardless of the boat model.
I mean, when you look for 10+ years old boats, the particular conditions of each one are always much more relevant than any construction changes the builder made throughout the model life.
Sure, theoretically you could argue that if at some point in time the builder introduced a feature that you really like, you can restrict your search to the boats built from that point onward, and then still look for one in good conditions.
But you wouldn't do yourself a favour, because there might be out there an older boat which would be an overall wiser choice, based on her conditions.
All imho, as always.

No there were no hull changes.

The wiring is probable different on every build!

Each model year will have some minor modifications that you may ( or probably won't) notice.

I would go for a post 2004 one that has had a refit. Even a 2008 is 12 years old and will need new linings etc etc. Mine ( 2004) has had circa £50k spent on it.

The 800 engines are a nice to have but the 715s still do 32 knots with a clean hull. We cruise at 18-20 most of the time or 24/5 if the sea is flat and we are trying to cover distance.
