I have posted this also on reader-to-reader:-

I'm trying to sort out a problem with the feed from my upper and lower helm ignition switches that energises the port engine starter relay.

The two port engine ignition switches (upper and lower helm) are fine thank goodnes and give me 12v out on the correct cable when each is sprung to the start position, but no 12v feed arrives at the coil of the start relay.

I have placed a 12v feed to the start relay coil and the engine starts OK.

Voltage is fine, I have checked the neutral micro switches on the morse controls and they are OK at both helms, I bypassed them to test but still no feed.

The fault must be at the point where the two ignition switch looms join into one, I expect to find a large multiple-pin connector somewhere.

I have no idea where this joint is located, so if anyone has any ideas they would be gratefully received..... I intend to spend some time in the engine room tomorrow....!

Hi it depends on how sealine did the wiring, sometimes they use the stock 16pin volvo loom with the very expensive Y connector, other times they make there own loom up to the dash and if thats the case there always bother as sealines wiring in my opinion is piss poor, id say the problem would be in the Y connector, also the could be a PCB at the lower helm that links it to upstairs.

Whatever you find it will be in the 16pin loom id say that links the whole of anything engine to dashboard related.
