It is possibly a geometry question!
I want to improve the lifting eyes on the dinghy for hoisting it to the davits.
At the moment there is one lifting eye at the front and two spaced a little way apart on the stern.
The existing eyes are two far apart. Also the eyes on the stern mean the wire form the davit gets caught up with the on board when it is left on the transom.
The simple solution is to attach a rope between the eyes running down the center of the dinghy floor. Two eye loops in the rope provide the attachment points and the whole system works pretty well.
I could replace the rope with wire; this would take the stretch out of the wire.
The biggest problem is that as the dinghy is lifted it has a tendency to roll towards or away from the boat until up snug to the davit arm which prevents the roll.
It seems to me there must be an easy way of preventing the roll and a different / better way of rigging the wire between the eyes?
I have probably made a simple problem sound very complicated
