i need an M5 wood threaded screw with eye on top and collar to stop the eye disapearing in the wood. in stainless of course.
i can't access the back of the panel, else i wood be fitting a bolt and be done with it :-)

easily available as an eye bolt, but i can't find the same with wood screw thread.

max load will be 50kg, so i can't see a prob fitting one, you'll tell me different ?

many thanks, S

If it is going into some depth of wood, you could drill a hole oversize, open out the back of the hole (i.e. taper it so that hole on the outside is smaller than hole inside - bit like the tardis)fill hole with epoxy resin filler and place a normal machine bolt style eyebolt into it, and then when the resin has hardened, jobs done.

You could coat the machine screw with wax or vaseline, but IMHO this would either compromise the fix into the resin, or fail to allow the screw to release.

Another approach is to fill hole completely, then drill and tap. Again I suspect that the quality of fixing will be suspect.

In either case, strongly recommend that you use tape over the wood around the hole before using the epoxy so that any spills can just be removed when you remove the tape.

[/ QUOTE ] Yes it is Sea Screw (they also have a shop in Eastbourne) www.seascrew.com.

I misread Screw fix earlier as Seascrew (old age etc)
