Hi All,

So we've just hit the end of our first year of ownership... and I notice that there's various places that look like they might be getting stained by the dribble.

Some of the dribble stains might be from general scud... and others like this one are from taking advice of dabbing a little vaseline on to cover a tiny leak... which now seems to have backfired in leaving what looks to be a stain.

Is this normal? Does anybody have suggestions for getting rid of the staining?

Y10 to clean the stains but it looks like the wind shield sealing rubbers are oxidising (leaches carbon dye out). Clean the rubbers up (try a cloth damped down with acetone, but gently does it) and try a very thin polish of general purpose silicon grease to create a barrier to protect them after cleaning them up

Traffic film remover is a good way to get rid of general dirt and black streaks. Also oxalic acid cleans other stains, especially good with rust. Put it on, leave for a while till the stain disappears, then wash off with fresh water and polish when dry. Much cheaper than Y10, and essentially the same thing.

Simplest method is a quick scrub with a magic sponge. Takes seconds to do, and it looks like you will need to do this regularly. The only downside is the sponge will remove any wax you will have used after a polish, but you can easily pop a spot of wax on after each sponging. I would also clean the rubber seal with white spirit.
