Extending window brush as 'boat hook'?

We had one of those extending brushes on board, it would extend to around 18 feet. We fitted a plastic boat hook end on it. We used it for grabbing lines which had got stuck aloft and for dropping line over bollards etc. It was useful for retrieving items in the water ( always out of reach of the standard length hook) and ( with taped graduations ) as a sounding pole.
It has disappeared but will be replaced.
Any one else found a use for these brushes ( in addition to cleaning your windows)

I use one as a whisker pole for poling out my genoa in light winds.

I have one. It was around a tenner from Homebase a few years ago, but mine only stretches about 12 feet.

For some jobs, you really need a controllable 'claw' on the end .......so start thinking around an extending 'tree-branch-lopper'.

Bit pricey! My 5m pole was £9.99 at the local hardware store ...and came with window squeegee + soaper! (not Toolstation quality, of course).
