I am in the process of redesigning the front canopy on my Falcon spc23. I am aiming to try and raise the height at the front to give more head hieght and space as well as have a less restricted view out of the front window/windscreen.
I need to extend the front bar by 18", preferably with an extension of some sort that can quickly be put back to original height when the canopy is removed so that it still folds back in line with the radar arch as intended. Any ideas of how to do this would be appeciated. It's 3/4 inch tube or 19mm.

Try these guys

www.seascrew.com

They offer tube sizes and fittings that will slide one within the other for this purpose.

Thanks, that's a handy site to know, few useful bits and bobs on site but can't seem to find what I am looking for.
Although I could possibly use the 22mm and slide my 19 mm inside it and lock them at the correct hieght with a pin, worried they may rattle a bit though with the vibration.

If you extend the bar on top of the screen fwd this may give the extra height needed

It's just not quite high enough doing it that way, that was my original plan.
Think I have a way to do it.....
If I get some 22mm tube that the 19mm will slide into and a new end plug in 22mm with the hinge eye on it, I can fit one of these type of springs to hold it in any position by just drilling holes in the 22mm length.

Bit of a bodged prototype with 2 clothsline supports for extensions, but opinions on position of new canopy height.
Why would this of not been made higher from factory to start with. If you look at the bayliners and suchlike they are all about the height of my new extended bar?
I realise it will catch the wind more than standard and maybe not go as fast but it's impossible to drive whilst the canopy is up at the moment anyway.
Do you think it's too high or too far forward?

Its all about style which the original has.

I have owned this boat for around 10 years, the first 7 years it was moored in York where we just went up and down the river st 5mph mainly in the summer and on the odd occasion we got caught in a shower and weren't 5 mins from a pub or our mooring I had to drop the canopy at the front and just get wet.
This is due to the restricted view whilst sat down out of the glass windows and not enough head hieght to stand up whilst looking out of the plastic windows that are also angled sloping too much.
Whilst it wasn't as bigger issue in York I am now going out to sea regular and when the sea turns slightly or the wind it's very difficult to see with the canopy off because of the sea water splashing up in your face and there is too many crab pots around to risk having such a restricted view with the canopy on.
Hopefully by raising the hieght I should be able to see a lot better with the canopy up if needed. It's just difficult to know what it will like until it's done, but hopefully I can get a compromise between practical and style.
