For those that expressed an interest, or said don't do it, below are pics of new 18" longer swim platform, as well as propshield & coppercoat.

All work done by Rob Stockwell at Fambridge marina, where they actually know how to look after boats.

wow Perfect job.

Amazing work and looks factory fitted. I love Absolutes and my only issue is the swim platforms are not big enough for the Med. That seems a perfect solution, but how did they graft it on? Is it a new piece which is bolted through then glassed at the side nd covered with Teak. I would love to see some Undernreath pictures of the platform scarfing!

Glad you did it, now I have no excuse not to buy an Abs 41.....as long as it is UK based, med speced and can be got at the right price with a Trade in...

More Piccies please!

Paul

Wow, what a nice job,
Is this completely custom made, or did they use parts from absolute?
Didn't you consider a hi lo platform ?

I have no more pics, I will ask rob as I know he took some. He took a moulding of the old swim then fitted it to the old one. Underneath is open & hollow apart from half a dozen bits of wood glassed in for strength, from old to new. If you wanted you could remove the extension & the original hull & swim would be as was. I wanted it this way after talking to Trevor. It weighs next to nothing & had her over 36 knots yesterday (full of fuel, water, junk etc) with handling unchanged.:)

Nice job! Looks better than the original imo, nicely finished. Can you squeeze a tender on there or is that the plan?

Wow, impressive.
If it's really that light and stiff enough, they made a great job indeed from the structural viewpoint.
Externally, I would have considered extending the s/s profile further forward, 1ft or so, but I'm being fussy.
It's easily one of the best platform extension jobs I've ever seen anyway. And I've seen more than a few!
Congrats!

Solid wood under the cleats, Glassed in obviously. She has a tender garage, so the increase in size was purely for ease of entry & exit. The original teak was lifting badly & needed re doing, so we had it extended while we were at it.

What size tender can you squeeze in..2.7m or less?

As everyone else has said, the platform looks excellent, has a pukka OE look about it, nice job. Something I'd love to do on the T40. And is that an outdrive sternthruster pod I can see in your first pic?

Cheers
Jimmy

Yes it is, & extremely well it works too. We just trim the legs up to about +5 when mooring & its as good as the bow thruster.Haven't found a berth too tight (yet :o) Fitted by Osmotech.
